“For his latest music video, Alexander Ingham Brooke has teamed up with Derek Jarman’s cinematographer Christopher Hughes (Pet Shop Boys, The Last of England), producing a colourful music video that focuses on the themes of growing up, set against the harsh backdrop of British council housing.” – Deadplate Records.
Bristol isn’t just the place where the TV show Skins was set or where I spent last NYE hugging and yelling at people, it’s also where producer Artifact is from. In this beautifully shot clip it shows a young man at the council estate he grew up in, reminiscing about past days spent with his friends, with the track used in perfect juxtaposition.
There’s something about council estates that seem so post-apocalyptic, but that might be because I’ve watched too many British TV shows which are set in council estates or I’ve watched that MODESELEKTOR feat Thom Yorke video clip too many times. Nevertheless this video brings together an almost haunting track, great location and perfect styling makes for a solid first début video from Deadplate Records.
